The second backyard Coast to Coast dirt jump tour was on again for round two. Venturing from Raglan at Lewis Jones’ joint we visited the Beverland jump farm in Huntly and ended up on the east coast in a place called Hikitia at Casey King’s jumps. The weather wasn’t the best but rider determination was and a good time on and off the bike was had by all! READ MORE

KELLY “MCMASSIVE” MCGARRY ON CORSAIR!

Posted by Caleb on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I missed a bunch of calls from Kelly’s longtime sponsor Matt Whitaker from Wide Open yesterday, then my battery went flat and I couldn’t check them. This morning though, when the door to Kelly and his road tripping buddy Ramon’s van opened I could see why Matt was calling. Kelly is on Corsair! and already has a very sexy Corsair Ducat hardtail. He’ll also be riding the slopestyle Konig and the Crown DH rig. Kelly says (from the couch downstairs) that “I’m super excited about my new frame sponsor for 2010 and I’m looking forward to working closely with the guys at Corsair.” READ MORE

Kelly McGarry, Crankworx 2009

Legendary US snowboard photographer and regular visitor to our shores/hills Tim Zimmerman recently turned his lenses (mainly his tilt-shift) to mountain biking. Without a press pass he pretty much took the best photos to come out of Crankworx in over five years or arguably ever. Mountain biking photography is filled with amazing talent, but as you can see in this gallery there is still room for a people like Tim who bring a fresh perspective to our sport.

Crankworx is done and dusted now and it didn’t go too bad for me. I competed in the Deep Summer Photo Challenge which is a competition where six  professional photographers are invited to the Whistler Valley  for three days to shoot as many great MTB photos as possible (60% bike park photos)  and present them as a slide show in front of a massive crowd at the Fairmont Chateau. Aaron Chase films McGazza as he rolls through the Highland Claymore Challenge course. Not too sure of the final results yet but Kelly did make the top ten. Like last year the event had a close call with some pretty bad weather.
